may 12th 2010

oh my lordy. Had my first appointment with Dolan today and it was nothing like I was expecting. He was a small, skinny man with a scottish accent. He didn’t make any conversation with me. He asked me how I lost the most weight I’ve ever lost. Everything else was really him just telling me about the band, how it works, that I can lose 40kg in 2 years.

I’m booked in for surgery at Glengarry hospital on the 20th of August. My appointment today cost $160 and I’ll get about 60 of that back from medicare. I have to pay $1000 before the op. I have to have a blood test, an ultrasound of my liver. I also have to see the dietician (who will no doubt put my on a 2 week pre-op optifast diet…YAY -_-) and I have to call the aneathetist. I’m hoping that the anethetist will be the one with a special deal with HBF so I won’t have to pay for him…fingers crossed.

I’ll have to pay to see the dietician most likely, but the other tests should be bulk billed. The receptionist told me that each subsequent appointment/fill will be $105 with a medicare rebate.

All in all its going to cost me a bit, but not as much as most people pay outright, and it will be totally worth it.

I really thought I was going to have to sell myself to get the op. I can understand why people who don’t really need it can get it now. I heard of a girl who was suffereing from anorexia and bulemia managed to get the op. it was as if as soon as I’d made the appointment, i’d qualified for surgery.

So…a new countdown begins. 100 days from today. :D I hope it goes super duper quick!
