So things are going well, I'm adjusting to my new pouch and the different feelings of eating. I made a youtube video discussing the liquid diet and my thoughts on progressing to mushies early, against my dietitians orders. I have not progressed completely, but I have had very runny scrambled eggs, mashed potato and very soft lumps of mushroom and tomato in soup. I am not fully progressing, I am just incorporating slightly fuller foods into my diet. And I do chew them to pretty much liquid before swallowing...
I got a lot of feedback on the video telling me not to progress without my surgeons permission, and that if I don't follow the orders my band will slip and they will remove it for non-compliance. Things are a little different here. I wouldn't be able to call my surgeons office to ask if I can progress...because they have no idea who I am. My surgeon deals with hundreds of patients, and he has no data on my personal case post-op. Also, if my band slips, they wont remove it for non-compliance. If it slips I will have to have surgery to re-position it, and secondary positioning almost always fails.
Anyways, the moral of the story is, I believe I am the one with the most knowledge of my own body and how it is going to react to certain foods. I have been very careful in doing this. I have eaten very slowly and paid close attention to my body's signals. If I had felt discomfort I would have stopped immediately. I am still on a mostly liquid diet. I have not completely transitioned and I don't intend to until my 2 weeks is up. I am not saying that anyone should go against their surgeons directions, I'm just saying I know what's best for me.
